This is My Truth
A. When I read the blogs I felt a mix of thoughts. Katja’s blog made me realize how easy it is for fake images to fool us. When an AI generated image provokes a strong emotional reaction, people are more likely to believe it’s real, like the AI image she posted on her blog. Jameson’s blog discussed "The Falling Man," which is a haunting image to be honest. It really made me think about the human side of tragedies. I liked how he used logic to argue why some images might not be true. Nicole’s blog made me feel a sense of doubt about what I see; she said that the picture of the little girl is untrue, but I went and did some of my own research and I think it depicts truth. I think that truth in photography can be complicated, it's important to think critically about what we see.
B. I feel a little more confident in knowing what truth is for me, but truth is also subjective. The different blogs made me understand that my feelings and logic both play roles in determining what I believe to be true. Emotional reactions can sometimes cloud someone's judgment, so I try to be as logical as possible when dealing with truth.
C. I've realized that I can sometimes jump to conclusions too quickly without questioning my own biases. Questioning the intention behind an image and its source can help me get to a more honest understanding of the world. I think that balancing emotional reactions with critical thinking is the best way to get closer to the truth.
